How many female rock singers from Sweden can you name? The one who deserves to be named and remembered is Erika.
She’s known for being very outspoken about the music establishement and once married to Yngwie Malmsteen (with whom she also co-wrote some of his songs) and for her solo releases “Cold Winter Nights” in 1990 (re-released by MTM Classix) which gave her a monster hit with the single “Together We’re Lost”, “In The Arms Of A Stranger” in 1991 (also re-released on MTM Classix), “Lady Luck” in 1993, “Planet X” in 1997 and “Ripe” in 1998.
Then it went very quiet.
Erika had generated such an interest in her persona she ended up having to hide from the public eye and get a protected identity.
With time the urge to get a new band together got stronger which is where we are now.
Erika has formed a new band, called Honey Rider. She’s been busy writing new songs for the band. Bringing in collaborators from Candlemass and Europe. The new tracks are heavier than we normally would expect coming from Erika’s penmanship but with her strong sense of melody there is no mistaking in that she is the driving force behind the band.
Her voice is stronger than ever before, blending perfectly with the heavy riffs and beats on the new recordings.
The plan now is to continue writing and recording to add to the ten songs already in existense so there is a selection of songs to chose from for a release.
